Abstract

2020 is the year when the Covid-19 pandemic began to spread. The increasingly difficult banking conditions with the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in many banking growth becoming unpredictable. This has triggered many companies to change their minds by changing their dividend policy. This study aims to examine the effect of financial ratios on profitability, liquidity and solvency on the direction of changes in dividend policy. The
sample collection method in this study is to collect data on banks that distribute dividends with a sample of the year of dividend distribution conducted by the company. The sample of this study consisted of 80 samples with 20 banking companies that distributed dividends. The analysis used in this study used multiple linear regression with classical assumption tests consisting of normality test, multicollinearity test, autocorrelation test and heteroscedasticity test. The results of the study found that there was an effect of the financial ratio variables of profitability and solvency on changes in dividend policy and there was no effect of the liquidity variable on the direction of dividend policy. This is because 2020 is the year when the pandemic conditions make banking companies rack their brains to allocate their net profits into reserve funds.
